DayTrip to York (Medieval Roman Town)

I promised some pics of our day trip of yesterday. Enjoy !

< Clifford's Tower, York. York was the site for two of the castles William the Conqueror built in the years immediately following his conquest. The principal castle was begun in 1068 and was an important base for holding and administering the north.

When the Emperor Constantius died in AD 306, his son Constantine I (The Great) was made his successor in the Roman city of Eboracum, which would in time become York. He was the first Christian Roman Emperor and proclaimed Emperor in 306. >
